Chop-chop for globe-spanning chopper-swop
[ March 22, 2019 // Chris ]Volga-Dnepr Airlines and Panalpina have helped the Babcock multinational corporation swop helicopters stationed on the opposite sides of the globe in the UK and Australia in the minimum time.
Two Aberdeen-based AugustaWestland AW139 helicopters needed to get to their new base in Melbourne, Australia, while two Sikorsky S-92s needed to move in the opposite direction from Darwin, Australia, to Aberdeen.
Working in partnership with Panalpina, Volga-Dnepr flew one of its Antonov 124-100 ramp-loading freighters out of Glasgow Prestwick to fly the securely-wrapped AW139s which had been delivered by road from Aberdeen. After unloading in Melbourne, the aircraft flew to Darwin, where the two seven-ton S-92s were ready for loading for their journey to Babcock business unit in Aberdeen.
