Chris Lewis reboots his ports career
[ September 28, 2020 // Chris ]Former DP World UK chief executive Chris Lewis is re-entering the ports industry as Hutchison Ports UK, almost exactly a year after retiring. Reporting to managing director of Hutchison Ports Europe, Clemence Cheng, he joins the company at a critical time; operations at the port of Felixstowe have been badly affected by the Covid crisis. With the need to deep clean equipment after shift restricted capacity and lengthened turnaround times, the port was reported earlier in September to have hit capacity, vehicle booking slots were no longer being issued and shipping lines are to accept empty containers back there.
Earlier, Hutchison Ports appointed one-time Transport Secretary and current Conservative MP for Epsom and Ewell Chris Grayling as a part-time advisor.
