[ May 23, 2013 // Chris ]City Link is adding cross border small packet delivery as part of its strategy to extend its international presence in partnership with bpost international, the international business unit of the national postal service of Belgium. City Link will be launching two new services. Citypack Worldwide, an untracked packet service, is available now and a tracked packet service will follow later in the summer offering tracking of individual packets through the UK to the end delivery address. Delivery aim is 3-5 working days within the EU, 3-7 working days to the rest of Europe and 5–10 working days to the rest of world.
Sales and marketing director Tim Brown commented: “The growth in e-commerce is constantly changing the shape of the consumer side of our business. It is imperative that City Link reacts to these changes by having a product offering which meets the demands of our customers.”
He described the cross border packet service as “an exciting new development for City Link, allowing us to offer a one stop shop to our customers for worldwide services as well as within the UK.”
Earlier in May, Rentokil Initial said it had sold City Link to business turnaround specialists Better Capital but the company will continue to be led by current managing director Dave Smith.
