CLdN launches Rotterdam-Italy rail link

[ February 8, 2022   //   ]

Shortsea operator CLdN Cargo is to launch its own rail connection between Rotterdam and Montirone, Italy from 14 February. The service will initially operate three times a week connecting CLdN’s Rotterdam ro-ro terminal with the Magli Intermodal Service (MIS) Terminal in Montirone, 13 km south of Brescia in the north of the country. It will carry CLdN Cargo’s own trailer and container equipment combined with other types of equipment sourced by CLdN’s forwarding division.

The MIS Terminal was  upgraded in 2021 to handle longer trains.

In December, CLdN Cargo appointed an exclusive commercial agent to increase its presence in the Italian market. Securing rail capacity is vital in this market, it says, with increasing traffic as well as the new EU mobility package is expected to boost unaccompanied rail and ro-ro traffic.
