CMS enters Latin America with MSL buy
[ July 12, 2013 // Chris ]Tamworth-based NVOCC Cargo Marketing Services (CMS) has entered the South and Central American trades by acquiring a majority stake in specialist operator MSL (UK). MSL operates consolidation and full containerload services.
CMS managing director, Mick Frearson described MSL as “a strategic acquisition for us; we’ve not been in the South and Central American trades so this is a perfect fit and fills a gap in our deep sea service portfolio.”
MSL has 18 offices throughout the region. Its Pier 17 subsidiary covers Central America. “You really couldn’t establish that kind of relationship and coverage overnight,” said Frearson. MSL (UK) will remain an independent run business unit of CMS.
Juan Olarieta, who remains a shareholder and managing director of MSL (UK) commented: “A strategic alliance with such a well established, respected company like Cargo Marketing adds great value to MSL through increased investment, infrastructure, sales and support”.
