Competition watchdog calls in DHL Hillebrand purchase

The UK’s Competition and Markets Authority says it will investigate Deutsche Post DHL Group’s planned acquisition of specialist drinks forwarder, JF Hillebrand Group, announced last August. DP DHL had signed an agreement to acquire up to 100% of r JF Hillebrand Group and its subsidiaries for around €1.5 billion and planned to combine it with its Freight division. The transaction was however subject to merger control clearance in certain jurisdictions. An invitation to comment is open until 8 February and the deadline for the phase 1 decision is 22 March.

Hillebrand specialises in ocean freight forwarding, transport and logistics of beverages, non-hazardous bulk liquids and other products that require special care, using flexitanks and ISO tank containers.
