Cosco Shipping opens Peru hub port
[ November 15, 2024 // Chris Lewis ]China’s Cosco Shipping has inaugurated a green port at Chancay, 50 miles north of Lima, Peru. The natural deep-water port offers 1,500 meters of quayside and four berths, two container and two multi-purpose and can accommodate the world’s largest box ships. It is designed for an annual capacity of 1 million TEU, 6 million tons of bulk cargo, and 160,000 vehicles and a tunnel connects the port to the Pan-American Highway. Intelligent loading and unloading equipment includes electric container trucks. Cosco has launched two direct container routes from Shanghai cutting transit time to 23 days along with a ro-ro service.
