DB Schenker signs biggest ever battery truck deal

German forwarder DB Schenker says it has made the largest pre-order for electric trucks in Europe to date through a new partnership with Volta Trucks. It will acquire 1,470 fully-electric Volta Zero vehicles to be built at Volta Trucks’ new contract manufacturing facility in Steyr, Austria. The 16-ton vehicles will be used at ten of DB Schenker’s European terminals in five countries to transport goods from distribution hubs to the city centres and urban areas. DB Schenker and Volta Trucks will also explore the potential uses of the technology to potentially expand the offering.
