DFDS freight up in December

DFDS’s freight volumes jumped 27.9% to 3.594 million lane meters in December 2020, compared with the same month in 2019. However, traffic for the full year in  2020 was down 1% on 2019, at 40.886m lm. DFDS said its North Sea volumes were boosted by stock building ahead of Brexit, especially on the routes between the Netherlands and the UK, but also between Sweden and the UK. Volumes on the English Channel were likewise boosted by the stock building, and in total the volume growth for routes to the UK was 37%. Passenger traffic was down over 70% for the full year.
