DFDS to run Jersey ferry route
[ December 4, 2024 // Chris Lewis ]DFDS has been named as preferred bidder for a 15-year contract to provide freight and passenger ferry services from the UK to Jersey from 28 March 2025, raising the prospects of links to the Channel Islands being split into separate services for the first time in recent history. The neighbouring island of Guernsey has accepted a bid by incumbent operator Condor Ferries, now a wholly-owned subsidiary of French-owned Brittany Ferries, to operates its link from Portsmouth, but this was rejected by the Jersey government. Condor currently operates a two-island route.
DFDS said that specific details of its plans for Jersey services, would be provided within the next two weeks and it would work closely with local authorities and the current operator to ensure a smooth transition.
