DHL opens Camberley e-Commerce hub
[ June 10, 2024 // Chris Lewis ]DHL eCommerce has opened a £7m facility in Camberley which it says is the first operationally carbon-neutral site in its network, powered almost entirely by solar energy. The building has obtained the highest Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) rating, A+, thanks both to the onsite renewable energy generation as well as IoT technology to minimise energy use, low-use water appliances and submeters and the use of equipment and materials throughout with low embodied carbon. Should weather conditions necessitate the use of grid electricity, the site will source renewable energy.
The 3,000sq m site will handle 10,000 parcels a day and has ten electric van charging points.
DHL will be opening its second hub in Coventry in the coming months.
