DHL steps on the gas to cut emissions
[ March 21, 2019 // Chris ]DHL Freight has deployed one of the first liquefied natural gas (LNG)-powered long-haul trucks in Europe capable of towing a mega trailer. During a year-long trial period the Iveco Stralis vehicle will operate a daily shuttle between DHL’s logistics centre and a BMW Group production plant in southern Germany.
LNG-fuelled trucks offer 15% higher fuel efficiency compared to traditional diesel-powered engines and have a range of 1.500 kilometers.
It is all part of Deutsche Post DHL Group’s target to reduce logistics-related emissions to net zero by 2050.
