Double win for Freightliner

[ September 13, 2021   //   ]

Genesee & Wyoming’s UK arm, Freightliner and one of its employees were recognised at the Rail Freight Group awards on 9 September.

Mossend-based train driver, Heather Waugh, won the ‘Outstanding Individual Contribution’ award.  She has worked tirelessly to promote diversity, inclusion and mental health awareness in the rail industry, as well as promote the industry as a viable career, particularly for women.

Freightliner was also successful in the ‘Community and Environmental Responsibility’ category for their intermodal train lengthening and ‘jumbo’ train initiatives.

ABP and DB Cargo UK jointly won the award for Customer Care, in recognition of their success in completing an innovative rail freight solution for car maker, Mini (pictured, below).

Faced with higher customer demand from the Far East,  Mini cars was able to be run into the Western Docks by rail after ABP and DB Cargo created a cost-effective solution.
