DP World extends Rwanda’s supply chain

[ January 27, 2020   //   ]

DP World says it has opened Rwanda’s first fully fledged cold storage area at its recently inaugurated Kigali Logistics Platform. The new facility is expected to boost the country’s agricultural sector by helping local to expand their production beyond tea and coffee and export a range of vegetables and fruits to the international market.

The recent opening of the 500-sqm cold storage is part of DP World Kigali’s objectives to enable smarter trade and reduce logistics costs in Rwanda, by attracting investment and offering companies new options for their stored imports and exports.

It will also help pharmaceutical companies increase their import capabilities.

The facility, which has been operational since September 2018 in test mode, has an annual capacity of 50,000teu  TEUs and 19 000sqm bonded warehousing capacity, making it one of the biggest logistics hub in East Africa.
