DP World resigns from Solent Freeport
[ April 9, 2022 // Chris ]DP World has resigned from the board of the Solent Freeport and is no longer a partner in the consortium. It follows the controversial sacking of almost 800 staff at the Dubai-based company’s subsidiary, P&O Ferries in March. Minister for Levelling up, Lord Greenhalgh said the company was also no longer a partner in the Solent Freeport consortium.
DP World operates the container terminal at Southampton. Remaining members of the Solent Freeport consortium include Portsmouth Port, Associated British Ports, which operates the non-container section of the port.
At the time of writing, DP World’s London Gateway terminal remained a member of the Thames Freeport consortium.
