DP World starts work on Southampton trucking site
[ December 11, 2023 // Chris Lewis ]DP World has broken ground on its new driver welfare facility at Southampton.
When complete, it will provide truckers with a restaurant, café, bathrooms and showers, and space for 120 lorries with 24-hour security.
The 7,500 sq. m site will also alleviate residents’ concerns over local traffic. DP World is working with construction partner Earlcoate on the project, building on their last joint venture creating a new slipway for the Southampton Sea Cadets earlier this year.
The driver welfare site was leased by DP World from Port of Southampton operator ABP in January and is part of DP World’s investment of a further £1bn in its UK operations over the next 10 years.
