Driver shortage is nationwide, says survey
[ June 9, 2015 // Chris ]The Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport’s supply chain benchmarking club has published the findings of a recent Logmark survey on driver shortage.
The 100-plus participants from companies including Norbert Dentressangle, Marks & Spencers, Doddle, Mark Thompson Transport Ltd and Premier Foodsfound that 74% of club members surveyed were experiencing a driver shortage and that it is a UK-wide issue; 51% of organisations surveyed have failed to recruit drivers over the last 12 months, while the average age of the participant’s driver was revealed as 47 years old. Some 89% of those surveyed think the Government is not doing enough to highlight and deal with the driver shortage crisis but 80% claimed it is the responsibility of business to find solutions to the issue
