Early Holyhead reopening hopes dashed

Stena Line has announced that Holyhead Port will not be reopening for ferry services until at least 15 January 2025, following damage sustained during Storm Darragh earlier in December.

Earlier, it had been reported that the UK’s main Irish Sea port at Holyhead would remain shut until at least Thursday, 19 December while damage was repaired.

However, berthing infrastructure – Terminal 5 for Stena Line and Terminal 3 for Irish Ferries are still be examined by divers and this process will not be completed until mid-Jan atuary the earliest.

Stena Line said it had been working hard to provide alternative arrangements for customers during the busy festive period. Customers are currently being contacted and affected passengers are advised to amend their booking online free of charge or through the Contact Centre on 0344 770 7070 (UK)/ + 353 1 907 5555 (ROI).

It is offering sailings for freight and passengers from Dublin to Birkenhead and Fishguard and a new freight route from Dublin to Heysham has been added. The company has also added sailings on the Belfast – Cairnryan route this weekend. Currently there is limited availability on the Belfast – Liverpool and Rosslare – Fishguard routes.
