East Midlands to spearhead Arvato’s UK growth

Arvato Supply Chain Solutions has opened a 25,000 sq m multi-client distribution centre at Segro Logistics Park East Midlands Gateway. It will be used as a hub for customers in the consumer electronics industry and healthcare sectors.

It is strategically located on the road network between the cities of Nottingham, Derby and Leicester with direct access to the M1 and other motorways and trunk roads.

Managing director UK, Tobias Uthmann, said Arvato had defined the UK as a strategic growth market, especially in the e-commerce sector. He added: Demand for local logistics solutions in the UK has increased significantly in recent years, particularly as a result of Brexit. International brands are specifically looking for logistics partners with locations within the country to avoid complicated customs clearance and cross-border returns processes. In addition, there is the rapid growth in e-commerce and the increasing demand for shorter delivery times.

The new logistics centre will create up to 300 jobs, said Arvato.

The company has created more than 175,000sq m of new logistics space in 2021 in new centres and expanding existing locations in Germany, Turkey, the US, Poland, Spain, China and Russia, among others, and now has more Over 2m sq m of space at 85 locations worldwide.
