Election is good news, says FTA Ireland
[ January 15, 2020 // Chris ]FTA Ireland says that the calling of a general election on 8 February by the Taoiseach, Leo Varadkar was good news for logistics. It said the industry was losing confidence in the government’s ability to successfully navigate Brexit and provide the right framework to transition to a zero-emission economy
FTAI general manager Aidan Flynn, said the lack of a working majority – among other issues – has created ineffective governance.
He added: “FTAI is calling on all prospective candidates and parties to prioritise the issue of Brexit in their campaigning. And, with the possibility of a cliff-edge No Deal Brexit in December 2020, we must have complete confidence the government is able to lead logistics businesses through potentially uncertain economic and political climates.”
