Emirates adds Edinburgh and Stansted
[ June 6, 2018 // Chris ]Emirates SkyCargo has added two new UK destinations to its network from Dubai – Edinburgh and London Stansted , bringing its total destinations in the country to eight.
The two new daily 777-300ER-operated passenger servicess, with around 20 tonnes cargo capacity per flight, add around 500 tonnes to the carrier’s 2,000 –tonne capacity in the UK market. Emirates is one of the top three international air cargo carriers in the UK market.
Emirates has already shifted around 45,000 tonnes of cargo through Glasgow in the last four years, and the new Edinburgh service will offer exporters such as whisky and salmon producers direct connections to more global destinations avoiding the need for trucking within the UK.
With a combined 63 flights a week, London Heathrow and London Gatwick together account for the lion’s share of its UK business with slightly over 60% of the total uplifted during the past four years.
Pharmaceuticals are one a major export traffic and in particular London which has seen robust growth following the launch of Emirates Pharma temperature-controlled solution.
