EU reveals ICS2 details
[ January 10, 2024 // Chris Lewis ]The European Union has revealed details of the third phase of its Import Control System 2 (ICS2), which will extend new import processes to shipping, inland waterways, road and rail in the EU from 3 June.
Under ICS2, which already applies to airfreight, carriers will be required to provide data on goods sent to or transiting the EU prior to arrival by completing an Entry Summary Declaration (ENS).
Member States will be able to implement the scheme between 3 June 2024 and 4 December 2024 for maritime and inland waterway carriers); from 4 December 2024 to 1 April 2025 (house level filers); and from 1 April 2025 to 1 September 2025 for road and rail carriers
Any goods for which the information is not supplied could be held at the border.
