Europa debuts in Morocco
[ October 7, 2013 // Chris ]Europa Worldwide has launched a regular service to and from Morocco, its first major expansion since its takeover by former RH Freight boss, Andrew Baxter. In its first regular venture into the North African country, Europa has appointed GR Vilade as exclusive partner in Casablanca and will run a twice-weekly service. Europa’s Birmingham operation is already working directly with GR Valade in arranging direct trailers to and from Casablanca.
Europa says it is expecting to add further routes by the end of the year and throughout 2014. The company plans to become a market leader in European groupage, with new UK offices and further additional groupage services.
Europa says the Moroccan economy has shown resilience in the face of a particularly difficult world economy, growing by 3.2% in 2012 and 4.3% in the second quarter of 2013 over the same period the previous year.
Joint managing director, Gren Turner, commented: “The UK’s historic trade with Morocco has traditionally been textiles, with fabric being sent south and completed garments being returned to the UK. However Morocco is a rapidly developing country with lots of new industries and there are now many more opportunities. Key market sectors for both import and export are very diverse including textiles, apparel, sporting goods, aerospace,. defence, health technologies, automotive IT, telecoms, agriculture and energy.”
