Fast-track planning speeds DP World development
[ June 27, 2018 // Chris ]DP World London Gateway has handed over the keys of its Halo bespoke temperature controlled warehouse to SH Pratt Group.
The 108,555 sq ft facility at the port’s Logistics Park was completed in less than 24 weeks, under budget and within just eight months of the planning application first being submitted. The fast delivery of the building was possible thanks to a Local Development Order which DP World London Gateway has agreed with Thurrock Council – one of only two such unique planning consents in the UK.
SH Pratt Group will now start fit-out, installing high-tech temperature controlling equipment across nine chambers including three frozen chambers and the building should be operational by October.
DP World park development director, Oliver Treneman, said: ”Halo is going to add value to temperature controlled supply chains, through its mix of expertise and know-how and through operating a high-spec, focussed facility on the same site as one of the world’s fastest growing container ports.”
The order ensures planning consent can be obtained for warehouse facilities up to 1.5 million sq ft in size and up to 42m in height, within just 28 days.
SH Pratt Group chairman Robert Wells, added: “Halo will see us drawing on our expertise in delivering a quality service when it comes to handling a wide range of products. This will be through a state-of-the-art, fully accredited, fully-focused facility, which coupled with the Group’s sister company, Kinship Logistics, and its ideal location at DP World London Gateway Logistics Park, will be able to pass on tangible savings to customers and also reduce demurrage by offering a rapid turnaround.”
