Felixstowe strike averted
[ February 7, 2020 // Chris ]The Unite trade union says that a dispute over the outsourcing of workers at the port of Felixstowe has been settled. The row flared up late last year after 116 engineers at Felixstowe docks took strike action on 27 and 28 December in a dispute over a possible transfer to an outside company, Universal Tyres. However, it has now been agreed that should restructuring take place in the future, including the outsourcing of workers to a third party, any individual affected will be offered alternative employment on protected pay with the current employer. Unite regional officer Miles Hubbard said planned industrial action had been suspended.
