Final send-off for European seamless transport project

[ March 23, 2018   //   ]

The CORE four-year €50 million European research project to create trusted and transparent trade lanes will be brought formally to a close at an event at the Stanhope hotel in Brussels on 11 April.  A final event will bring together shippers, freight forwarders, transport providers, and authorities to demonstrate the project’s achievements.

These include the CORE data pipeline which, the European Commission says, has helped to keep goods flowing smoothly despite an exponential increase in customs declarations and other border formalities and upcoming Brexit complications.

Another achievement, it says, is unintrusive scanning and system-based supervision.

Presentations at the closing event will include: real-time management of complex supply chains, a data pipeline project to set up ‘green lanes’ through better access to detailed shipment information and documentation to improve supply chain reliability, efficiency, and risk analysis, a blueprint for a trusted trade lane and the IBM-Maersk world-wide IT platform.
