Finishing touches for FedEx heavyweight hub in Europe
[ December 3, 2024 // Chris Lewis ]FedEx is finalizing a new €30 million, 22,200sq m building for handling heavyweight and freight consignments over 68kg at its Paris Roissy-Charles de Gaulle hub.
Set to be fully operational in 2025, it is based on existing infrastructure and will comprise scanners and mobile weight measurement systems.
The site is modernising in line with the goal FedEx has set to achieve carbon neutral operations by 2040, with electrification of the on-site fleet of ground vehicles, over 500sq m of solar panels and LED lighting. It is connected to the FedEx international road hub in Marly-la-Ville, which connects France to the rest of the European road network.
FedEx generates €1.8b for the Paris region each year according to a 2023 study. The French market will experience the third highest level of deliveries over this period in Europe, with 524 million orders.
FedEx has implemented a new strategic approach to its air network with differentiated management of parcel and freight flows, and priority and deferred services.
