Flying the flag for Britain
[ October 5, 2011 // Chris ]IAG Cargo, the freight arm of the joint British Airways/Iberia airline, has turned out its first 747-8 freighter, painted in British Airways World Cargo livery – the first plane to carry the colour scheme for over ten years. (A BAWC 747-400 freighter, ‘Chelsea Rose’, featured BA livery until about 2000.)
IAG Cargo, through British Airways World Cargo, will take delivery of the first of three 747-8 freighters late October. The new aircraft will be operated for British Airways World Cargo under a contract with Global Supply Systems Limited, a 49% UK affiliate of Atlas Air, owner of the aircraft. They will replace the current fleet of 747-400 freighters in operation.
