Freeport East site gets green light
[ October 17, 2022 // Chris Lewis ]The Freeport East Gateway 14 site has gained detailed planning consent for its first unit. It will be occupied by home, garden and leisure products retailer The Range and create an estimated 1,650 jobs. Gateway 14 Ltd is wholly-owned by Freeport East partner Mid Suffolk District Council. Work on the distribution unit is expected to start in January, with a completion date target of autumn 2023. Freeport East Gateway 14 has outline planning consent for a 2.36m sq ft mixed-use innovation, business and warehousing scheme. Construction of the site infrastructure is already well underway.
Freeport East has appointed Mark Lemmon as chair of the board, taking over from George Kieffer who had been covering the post on a temporary basis. Lemmon has a background in infrastructure finance and is also a Governor at South Bank University and deputy chair of the board at Shoreham Port.
