From coal to green hydrogen in Tilbury
[ July 7, 2023 // Chris Lewis ]Forth Ports has signed an agreement with power generator RWE and trading and investment company Mitsui to develop a hydrogen project at the port of Tilbury. The organisations will complete two parallel work streams – a small scale ‘proof of concept’ to produce green hydrogen for decarbonising port and an initial study into a 10 megawatt green hydrogen plant on the site of a former coal-fired power station. The project will also look at options to scale up development over ten years to over 100 megawatts. The hydrogen would be used for port infrastructure and operations in addition to providing green hydrogen to surrounding industry.
