Girteka boosts rail by 35%
[ February 5, 2025 // Chris Lewis ]Girteka Group, the largest European asset-based transportation company headquartered in Lithuania, says its intermodal usage rose 35% in 2024 compared with 2023, delivering more than 24,000 full truckloads.
The increase reflects the logistics sector’s growing focus on sustainability, says the company. Combining transport to and from rail terminals with HVO fuel allows to save up to 90% of CO2 emissions, it says.
Girteka’s network now connects key European regions, including Spain, Italy, France and Germany.
The company adds that EU initiatives such as the Greener Freight Transport Package are expected to reduce infrastructure and bureaucratic barriers, making intermodal transport even more accessible.
