Rapid progress for global trade deal, says WTO
[ February 26, 2018 // Chris ]One year on since its entry into force, the Trade Facilitation Agreement (TFA) had made significant strides, said World Trade Organisation (WTO) director-general Roberto Azevêdo. He said that the deal, which seeks to expedite the movement, release and clearance of goods across borders, had been 100% implemented by developed country WTO members, 56.4% among developing members and 1.7% among least developed countries. The Agreement is unique in that it allows developing and least-developed countries to set their own timetables for implementing the TFA depending on their capacities to do so. Developed countries committed to immediately implement the Agreement when it entered into force.
