Govt publishes plans for Grangemouth’s future
[ March 25, 2025 // Chris Lewis ]The government has published an independent report for the long term future of industry at the Grangemouth, central Scotland’s largest port, following the recent decision by Petroineos to close the oil refinery. It includes nine options for low carbon and industry, together with plans to secure private investment and a long-term partnership with business backed by £200 million from the UK government, and £25 million from the Scottish Government. Proposals include plastics recycling, hydrogen production and other projects that could create up to 800 jobs by 2040.
Forth Ports operates Scotland’s largest container port at Grangemouth as well as extensive warehousing and logistics operations.
