Green solution from Turkey
[ May 20, 2014 // Chris ]Allport Cargo Services (ACS) is offering a multimodal trailer-train service between Turkey and the UK, via Germany. Working with its partners Ulusoy, it has fixed day departures and can carry reefers, hanging garments and double-deck units between Istanbul and Cologne from where a fleet of dedicated lorries move trailers or containers to and from the UK in under 12 hours.
The rail service will offer up to a 10% cost saving over conventional road services, and yet is just as fast, more secure and has reduced CO2 emissions.
ACS managing director, overland division John Williams, commented “We are committed to ensuring that we provide our customers with inventive solutions, we know that they need an economical solution that minimises environmental impact without compromising transit speed and security.”
