Hamburg boxes hold steady

The Port of Hamburg reported growth in container throughput of 0.9% to 7.8 million TEU in 2024 compared to 2023. A positive trend in container traffic with the US continued, while container throughput with China recovered, said the Germany gateway. Loaded containers accounted for 87% of the volume, up 1.2% to 6.8m TEU. Total volume of goods handled at the port stood was down 2.1% at 111.8 million tonnes, 2.due mainly to a 8.6% decline in bulk goods, which fell to 33.1m million tonnes.
