Hamburg is in the pink as first Megamax ship arrives

[ July 14, 2023   //   ]

The ONE Innovation is set to turn the town pink when she arrives in the port of Hamburg tomorrow (15 July). The largest vessel operated by the three-line Japanese consortium (K Line, Mitsui OSK and NYK) and the first of six new Megamax vessels to join ONE’s fleet, she is 400m long, 61.40m wide and has a capacity of 24,136teu. She also comes with a bow windshield and an exhaust gas cleaning system to meet IMO emission regulations.

The ship operates in the FE3 Asia-Europe service of THE Alliance and will thus be a regular visitor to  Hamburg.

Chief executive of Port of Hamburg marketing, Axel Mattern, said: “The shipping company’s decision to call at the Port of Hamburg with its most modern ship shows that we have done our homework. For example, the terminal operators have state-of-the-art container gantry cranes to efficiently unload and load a ship of this size. In addition, shore power systems are currently being installed at the container terminals in the Port of Hamburg to make the ships’ laytime more environmentally friendly.”
