Hamburg’s HHLA moves aid to Odessa
[ November 29, 2022 // Chris Lewis ]Terminal operator Hamburger Hafen und Logistik AG (HHLA) is transporting urgently needed aid to Odessa with three containers carrying medical supplies leaving Germany for the Ukrainian port city on 27 November. The goods were purchased with donations ny HHLA employees and a company aid fund.
HHLA has operated a terminal in the city on the Black Sea since 2001. However, seaborne handling was halted in the wake of Russia’s illegal invasion of Ukraine.
HHLA employees in Hamburg and at its Trieste terminal donated almost €70,000 and HHLA’s Executive Board topped up this sum using the €1 million aid fund it had created since the end of March. The goods shipped included medical supplies such as surgical gloves and dressing material.
