Handling PPE? Stay alert, says insurer
[ May 14, 2020 // Chris ]Insurance Broker Peter Lole is urging clients moving or storing PPE equipment to reassess their current security arrangements after 80,000 face masks were stolen from a warehouse in Manchester.
The high quality respirator masks were stolen after thieves cut a hole in the steel warehouse shutters to avoid triggering the alarm system, making off with 320 boxes of material
Freight and marine manager, Hazel Downes, said: “Clearly PPE is now much more theft attractive, so if you are moving or storing PPE you need to assess the higher risk involved, review security measures in place and transport routes being used. We know many of our clients working in logistics and freight forwarding are helping our country source this vital equipment and we urge them to be extra vigilant.”
