Holyhead regains rail link
[ August 31, 2022 // Chris Lewis ]Shipping agent Armitt Group has opened a rail freight terminal near the port of Holyhead Holyhead. The terminal is at the Orthios Logistics Hub and Eco Park site on the site of the Anglesey Aluminium plant which closed in 2009 and uses the former smelter’s rail sidings.
The terminal can handle up to six trains per day up to 750 metres along with space for container storage. It is within 1.5 miles of the ferry port of Holyhead and is connected to the North Wales Coast Main Line, which links to the West Coast Main Line via Chester and Crewe or Warrington.
