Irish Ferries to take on P&O vessel
[ May 16, 2024 // Chris Lewis ]Irish Ferries is to replace the Isle of Innisfree on the Dover-Calais route with the Spirit of Britain, currently a P&O Ferries vessel. Irish Ferries will charter the ship for two years with option to purchase after that.
Together with sister ship Spirit of France, she entered service on the route in 2011. Irish Ferries will rename and rebrand the ship.
The 213m long ferry will offer space for up to 180 trucks, considerably more than Isle of Innisfree’s 83-truck capacity. She also has a freight driver’s lounge.
Yesterday, P&O Ferries and Irish Ferries announced a freight space-charter agreement for the Dover-Calais route.
Isle of Innisfree will move to the Rosslare Pembroke route, replacing a temporary charter ship currently servicing the route.
