It’s all going up in Giengen
[ June 30, 2021 // Chris ]Garbe Industrial Real Estate GmbH and Honold Logistik Gruppe held a ground-breaking ceremony on 30 June for a new Amazon distribution centre in Giengen an der Brenz , midway between Stuttgart and Munich in southern Germany. Amazon will use the new building for ‘last mile’ parcel deliveries. It is scheduled for completion in April 2022.
Independently the two partners are developing a further 23,000sq m speculative property on a 78,000sq m site at the same location, Giengen Industrial Park A7, scheduled for completion in June 2022. The two project partners are investing a total of around €58 million in Giengen.
The new building meets the highest standards , with the majority of the roof planted with greenery. A photovoltaic system for the generation of regenerative energy will be installed on the remaining area. There will be a four-level parking area for vans and cars next to the Amazon DC, allowing valuable site space to be used for other purposes.
