It’s game on around the world, thanks to Woodland

Essex forwarder the Woodland Group is to handle all international logistics for SOS Kit Aid, which recycles sports kit for the benefit of young people in the UK and overseas. Established by rugby-mad dad John Broadfoot, it gives kids the opportunity to play and enjoy sport using kit that would otherwise become environmentally damaging waste.

Supported by the Lord’s Taverners, the International Rugby Board and World Squash Federation, around £3.5million worth of gear kit has been donated by schools, clubs and manufacturers to date and over 135,000 youngsters in 20 developing countries have benefited.

Woodland’s recently-formed Sports Logistics division will work closely with the charity to provide efficient and cost-effective worldwide logistics services. Managing director of Woodland Logistics, Sean Kirby, said: “The work that John and his team carry out is extremely rewarding and has a genuinely positive impact on under-privileged kids throughout the world. Our hope is that by streamlining the charity’s logistics operations, John and team will be free to raise the profile of SOS Kit Aid and gain more support for the fantastic work they are doing.”
