Jobs to go in TNT restructure
[ November 27, 2013 // Chris ]TNT Express UK & Ireland is to remove 237 positions in data entry, administrative, supervisory and clerical role from January 2014. It forms part of a restructuring of its finance and administrative activities as part of the express giant’s global Deliver! programme, announced in March 2013, which aims to make the company more efficient and strengthen its competitive position.
Consultation with trade unions has already started. The company said it is working closely with staff, and their representatives, to support those employees most affected by the changes, including considering redeployment options where appropriate.
Alistair Cochrane, managing director of TNT Express UK & Ireland, said: “It is with deep regret we have to take these difficult steps. The reality is that we have to provide a competitive service to our customers in the face of challenging trading conditions. These steps are required to strengthen our company for the long term.”
