Palletways hauliers sign armed forces pledge

Kilmarnock Palletways member PPS Logistics in Kilmarnock has signed the Armed Forces Covenant.

The Covenant is a pledge by to provide support, recognition, and opportunities for those who have served or continue to serve their country.

PPS managing director, Andrew Muir, said: “We recognise the unique skills and experiences members of the armed forces community can bring to the workforce and we’re fully committed to offer them meaningful employment opportunities and career development. A large proportion of our workforce are veterans and have served overseas or currently supporting the armed forces and the wider forces community, which is something we are proud of.

“We welcome candidates all year round with an Armed Forces background. As a responsible and community-focused organisation, we’re proud to formally announce our support of armed forces personnel and are honoured to join the ranks of businesses that have already signed the Armed Forces Covenant.”

PPS offers services including pallets, same-day and international deliveries and is one of over 120 independent transport providers that are part of the Palletways UK network.

Northern Ireland Palletways member Montgomery Distribution has also signed up to the Armed Forces Covenant.

Managing director, Steven McBride, said: “As a responsible and community-focused organisation, we’re proud to be involved and are honoured to join the ranks of businesses that have already signed the Armed Forces Covenant. It’s a great feeling to be among the first cohort of Palletways members to sign and I’m hopeful it’ll encourage others to do the same.”

Montgomery Transport Group has sites in Belfast, Preston, Rugby and Dublin, with a fleet of more than 250 vehicles and 900 trailers.It became a member of Palletways in 2002 after adding a pallet distribution division, which has grown to become a £20m per year business with operations across the UK & Ireland.
