Last chance for longer trailers
[ August 28, 2014 // Chris ]The Freight Transport Association is urging operators to take advantage of the last chance to participate in a trail of longer semi-trailers. According to the Department for Transport, 400 freight operator allocations are still available to allow them to use longer vehicles to transport goods on UK roads. The longer semi-trailer permits allow operators to run articulated lorries up to 2 metres longer than existing, standard articulated vehicles.
Among operators that have already taken advantage of the scheme is Malcolm Group which is now carrying 50-foot containers to and from its rail terminals in Daventry and Scotland.
