As part of its behind-the-scenes look at the airside operations at one of the world’s busiest airports, Anita Rani visited Norbert Dentressangle’s Perishables Handling Centre in May this year. It handles around 120,000 tonnes of fresh produce each year, providing a complete service from aircraft to shelf, typically in less than 24 hours.
Produced by the BBC in partnership with The Open University and presented by Dan Snow, Dallas Campbell and Anita Rani, Airport Live marks the most complete exploration of Heathrow’s grounds and skies and features a mix of live and pre-recorded footage being shown over four consecutive nights, starting on Monday 17 June.
