London sees double
[ December 14, 2015 // Chris ]The port of London could be handling its largest ever cargo traffic in 20 years – up to 80 million tonnes a year – if the ideas contained in the Thames Vision come to fruition. The plan, published on 14 December, envisages that London, could almost double its cargo throughput from the 44.5 million tonnes handled in 2014. More goods and materials moved between river wharves, taking 550,000 lorry trips off the region’s roads, and the number of passengers doubled to around 20 million a year.
