Lufthansa adds Birmingham and Heathrow to short-haul network
[ September 1, 2022 // Chris Lewis ]Lufthansa Cargo is to add a second Airbus A321 freighter to its short-haul operation in October and will add Birmingham, London and Madrid to its network. It follows introduction of the first aircraft in March this year.
The second A321F currently undergoing conversion in Singapore will have 28 tonnes of payload on 14 pallets and container positions on the main deck and ten on the lower deck. It will also be based in Frankfurt hub and operated by Lufthansa CityLine under a wet lease agreement
New destinations in the intra-European network include Birmingham, London Heathrow and Madrid alsongside existing destinations Istanbul, Tel Aviv, Malta, Tunis, Dublin, Manchester and Cairo. Istanbul and Tel Aviv will gain additional frequencies. There will be daily weekday flights to Birmingham and Dublin.
Two further A321 freighters are expected to join the fleet in the first half of 2023.
