Lufthansa sets up e-commerce arm

Lufthansa Cargo has set up a new wholly-owned subsidiary, heyworld, to offer is custom solutions to its e-commerce clients. Based in Frankfurt and with Timo Schamber as managing director will offer a range of configurable transport solutions that can be integrated with customers’ storefronts, ERP systems or shipping software, using the 2,387 daily flights to 31 worldwide destinations operated by Lufthansa and its partner airlines.

Lufthansa Cargo head of product and service development, Stefan Frankenhauser said it would embed Lufthansa Cargo’s conventional airport-to-airport air cargo services into its transport solutions and integrate optional services, such as first- and last-mile transfers and handling add-ons.
