Maritime promotes managers of the future
[ March 30, 2023 // Chris Lewis ]Road and rail operator Maritime Transport has promoted Alex Williams (pictured, top) and Tom Williams (second from top) to deputy chief executive officers under a longer-term succession plan. They will report directly to chief executive officer, Simon Smart.
Meanwhile, John Bailey (third) will head up a newly-created Intermodal division as managing director, bringing together the container businesses of road, rail, and terminals.
Retail expert Craig Moore (fourth) is also promoted to managing director – distribution. Prior to joining Maritime in 2022, he spent 14 years at Tesco as supply chain and logistics manager.
Group executive chairman, John Williams, said: “In any business, succession should always be at the forefront of the current leadership’s thoughts, and we have been working on the next phase and development of our senior management team for some time. Our collective industry experience will ensure that the next generation succeed and continue to grow the business in line with the opportunities that we have in front of us.”
